SoftLab also streamlines workflow by allowing users to view specimen information and results across all SCC products. This fully integrated system provides a seamless interface that ensures the same user experience for all clinical laboratories within the enterprise. It also allows the distribution of results and other data from laboratories throughout the IDN. In addition, users can print patient results from all available applications within a single collated report, such as epidemiology reports.
The enhanced call management module creates an integrated call list that enables users to place calls for SCC products from the same application, improving efficiency and saving time by not requiring users to access different modules. User-definable criteria create calls for specific clients when a test is canceled or results are modified, improving customer service.
SoftLab uses an enhanced data model that supports advanced queries that reduce report generation time and database utilization. This model also facilitates the creation of customized, ad-hoc reports to assist with lab management.
The billing module uses multiple technologies that create seamless integration, enabling billing in real-time as orders and specimens are received. This feature eliminates the need for product-specific batch jobs by creating a unified set of billing rules. It also improves overall billing performance and traceability.
Accessing SoftLab through the Web allows users in remote locations to release standing and future orders via SoftROE®, as opposed to an installed SCC system. They can also collect specimens and print labels by accessing an option in SoftLab or using a predefined URL. Additional benefits of Web access include entering specimen-specific information like collection data.
SoftLab allows users to define their own specimen attributes and record a pre-defined number of tubes per test. This flexibility enables the management of complex samples with a fully electronic workflow, thus saving time. It also allows SoftLab to store information needed for genetic and pathology testing.
SoftLab has a scalable, configurable integration with HIS/LIS vendors.
Pediatric and geriatric containers both minimize the volume of blood specimens. Users can define their own collection containers based on patient age or type from a special window in SoftLab. This feature is especially beneficial for collecting blood from pediatric patients, who require careful consideration of volume due to the small size of these patients.
This feature allows users to print temperatures on the labels, whether shipping internally or externally. It also increases multi-site support of reference labs by improving flexibility and reducing maintenance requirements.
SoftLab offers greater field length for many key data elements, improving integration with LIS/HIS vendors. This capability is particularly useful for improving application response time for large clients with multiple sites, while also reducing CPU utilization.
SoftLab provides improved reporting for orders from multiple doctors and clinics for both electronic and paper reports. It combines duplicate test requests from multiple sources into a single order before reporting the results back to the ordering doctor or clinic.
Setup files are defined and maintained in one location, allowing all available software applications to use them. This feature eliminates the need to create a separate file for each application.
SoftLab improves the storage module for clients who have at least one SCC Genetics Information Systems Suite module. It tracks the exact location of specimens in storage by position in rack, rack in device, and device in location.
SoftLab prints patient results from all available technologies within a single collated report. For example, it can print epidemiology reports from all the client’s technologies.
SoftLab improves the reception of specimens from remote sources by redirecting them to the correct workstation. It also improves tracking of specimens within the laboratory, reducing the number of lost specimens.
SoftLab greatly increases efficiency, allowing labs to increase the volume of their work without adding staff.
